When a Chainpoint Node receives hashes, they are aggregated in a structure known as a Merkle tree, with the root of this tree published through a Bitcoin transaction. The resulting Chainpoint proof outlines specific operations that create a cryptographic connection between your data and the Bitcoin blockchain. Additionally, each Chainpoint proof includes the necessary information to confirm that a hash of the data is securely anchored to the blockchain, thereby demonstrating that the data was present at the time of anchoring. This innovative system allows for the verification of Chainpoint proofs independently, without relying on a trusted third party. By utilizing this technology, users gain confidence in the authenticity and permanence of their data.
